Slow Your Horses

“But I want it now.”

We’ve all said it. My three year old told me the same thing today. It’s the human condition. Instant gratification.

We hurry and hustle toward our goals because we think life will be better once we’ve achieved them. We think we’ll be happier, more complete somehow.

But that’s not true.

We only want our goals because of how we think we’ll feel once we have them. What we truly want is the feeling. And we can create that ahead of time.

It’s not the achieving of the goal that gives us the feeling, it’s how we think about it.

Here, I talk about slowing down so we can enjoy the process, and become the person we’re meant to become on the journey to our goal.

It’s not about what we achieve - it’s who we become on the journey that counts.
